Kinetic Credit Union is seeking high energy candidates for the position of Card Services Specialist. This person performs all necessary functions to maintain the credit union’s Debit, Credit, ATM, and Pre-Paid card accounts. They also will assist internal and external members with the operation of their card. Furthermore, a card services specialist preforms a variety of duties in handling member need and promoting credit union services to new and existing members who access the credit union by telephone.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assists internal, external and intermediate members with various daily inquiries regarding card accounts.
  • Remains proficient with regulatory matters, the economic environment, competitive enhancements, technology advancements, and security which may affect the credit union’s card programs.
  • Processes proprietary fraud alerts, including neural networks, to help mitigate fraud risk.
  • Researches notice of errors reported from members.
  • Posts provisional credit to members accounts.
  • Maintains dispute and fraud investigation cases.
  • Follows up with law enforcement agencies on open investigations when appropriate.
  • Remains current in fraud trends and utilizes fraud prevention tools to help mitigate losses.
  • Works with Risk Officer to implement rules to help mitigate fraud.
  • Processes lost/stolen card accounts.
  • Processes special card and pin handling requests.  
  • Monitors the daily card and pin issue reports.
  • Works the monthly card renewal reports.
  • Reviews card account batch files, transmissions, and reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Manually posts card exception transactions to member’s accounts.
  • Processes the monthly transfer of reward points.
  • Performs cost benefit analysis on card enhancements and services.
  • Monitors card volume and growth including total sales, and issuance costs.
  • Coordinates with card vendors to provide maximum efficiency and member service.
  • Works with the appropriate third party agencies for card production, maintenance, security and compliance.
  • Verifies the monthly card renewals to ensure that cards issued are within the guidelines established.
  • Processes returned checks.

Job Qualifications
Job requires two years of college and a commensurate level of language, math and reasoning skills.  However, two years of experience in a related field with equal responsibilities is acceptable.  Formal training should be supplemented with continuing education.

Work Environment/Physical Activities
Job requires limited physical effort.  It is basically a desk assignment.  The job calls for a high degree of mental concentration and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.  The job requires a high degree of attention to details. The job does not carry a specific work volume or pace, except for the requirement that financial information be reported on a timely basis. The credit union often participates in community activities. This sometimes requires physical involvement.
